OUR STORY
What happened when my wife said . . .
In 2016, Kylie and I purchased a six acre parcel of land just a couple of minutes from Myrtleford in North East Victoria. At the time it was infested with blackberries but ticked all our boxes; a rural lifestyle, north facing sloping block (8 - 25 degrees) with a wonderful view. It was also an opportunity for us to build a home and be more self sufficient, sustainable and for me to practice farming again; alas on a much smaller scale.
Being an off grid small acreage land owner hasn't been without its challenges. Ironically it's these challenges that have been the inspiration for our new business venture North East Slashing.
The complexity of steep elevation, undulating terrain, variable soil types and wetter than average seasons made us re-evaluate our own approach to property maintenance. Parts of our property were often too wet to drive on let alone use our old John Deere tractor to mow the grass. With the John Deere having a few mechanical issues and a ride-on mower not really being a safe or fit for purpose option Kylie said to me "I think we need to investigate other options".
When the wet weather pattern continued, we realised that we were not the only property owners facing these challenges; so we opted to invest in new equipment that could handle all of these circumstances and start up a new business providing slashing and mowing solutions to accommodate a niche in the slashing and mowing market.
North East Slashing is set up to do tough slashing, grass cutting and finishing mowing. Our service and equipment excels in undulating steep terrain and where traditional tractor / ride on mower access is not possible or limited due to challenging conditions.
Our services are available to rural living, agribusiness and commercial property owners. If you require domestic mowing for your home in town, we can put you in contact with a couple of local businesses that we work with that do household mowing.
From our base in Myrtleford, we go anywhere in North East Victoria; primarily servicing the Ovens Valley, Kiewa Valley and surrounding districts.
